Darien Freeman Stars On and Off the Gridiron in Savannah

Darien Freeman, a 2001 graduate of LCHS and a Red Devil back, graduated May 12 from Savannah State University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Science Technology. He is also playing for the Savannah Warriors, a member of the Southeast Football League that is in their 2007 playoffs.

As a wide receiver and running back, Darien has 970 receiving yards, 200 rushing yards, and 8 touchdowns. He was selected to the 2007 SEFL All-Star game for his on and off the field work.

He is a mentor at Coastal Middle School in Savannah, GA. The kids love him. His first child is due to be born on January 1, 2008. He is scheduled to begin working with one of the largest computer companies in Savannah. As if that's not enough to keep Darien busy, he also coaches part-time at Savannah Country Day School and is part of the Savannah Fire Rescue Team. In November of 2006, he and a friend rescued a family from an automobile accident.
