With our Devils taking a week off, rivals in Region 7-A and elsewhere added wins to their 2007 record.
Warren County outlasted Jefferson 40-28 to improve its record to 2-1. The Screaming Devils have a tough opponent this week when 7-A foe Twiggs County comes slithering into Warrenton. The Devils hope to snare the Cobras at their old field. I took a look at their new facility last Friday, and it is still some time away from being ready for play. Twiggs lost to AA Bleckley County last Friday in a very respectable showing.
Hancock Central saw its dreams of a perfect season end in Monroe Saturday night when the host AAA school whipped the Bulldogs 35-12. Hancock travels to Monticello this Friday as both schools open their 7-A season. Wilkinson County, off last Friday, hosts GMC this week in another 7-A tilt.
Commerce continued its offensive roll with a 38-30 pounding of Trion. Bowdon nipped Greenville 14-13, and Bremen beat Darlington 24-14.
ECI proved it will be a team to reckon with in 2007 as it survived AA Toombs County 42-35. Hawkinsville picked up its first win of the season with a 28-6 win over Telfair County. Wilcox County slashed Treutlen 52-0.
And Washington-Wilkes also grabbed its first win of the new season with a 34-6 drubbing of the boys in Dawsonville.
