Devils Host Aquinas to Kickoff 7-A

September 24, 2007

The Fighting Irish of Aquinas will invade Buddy Bufford Field this Friday night as both teams open their 2007 Region 7-A schedule. Kickoff will be at 7:30.

Bill Tenore is the new head coach at Aquinas, bringing in a new system to try to improve on the Irish' disappointing 2-8 campaign a year ago. Tenore was the head coach at Bishop Fenwick in Franklin, Ohio for four years before becoming an assistant at Aquinas in 2006.

Under the new system, the Irish will run a 4-4 defense that Red Devil fans may recognize from several years ago by our own Devils. Derek Williams, a tailback/receiver with 4.5 speed, is the main offensive weapon, with the Irish looking for a QB. Marshall Malchow will also be a good receiver.

Aquinas' 0-3 record may be a bit deceiving, as they played Harlem tough in their last game, losing only 14-7 to the AAA school.
