Week 5: Warren Whips Twiggs, Commerce Loses

Things are heating up in Region 7-A and around Class A as the GHSA completes its fifth week of football competition.

In 7-A, Warren County is proving to be the contender that many predicted. Warren whipped Twiggs County 33-14, with the Cobras scoring late to make the final score closer than the actual game. The Screaming Devils outstanding quarterback Tommy Seals scored four touchdowns (runs of 1, 3, 9, and 17 yards) and rushed for 84 yards on the night. He now has 11 TDs on the season.

Hancock Central edged Monticello 15-12. The Hurricanes blow into the Bud this Friday. Wilkinson County demolished Georgia Military 65-0.

Around the state, Wilcox County continued to roll with a 55-0 whipping of Wheeler County. Hawkinsville nipped Johnson County 14-12. ECI blanked Jenkins County 28-0.

Bremen beat Landmark Christian 27-7 while Bowdown lost to heard County 26-14. Clinch County trounced 1-A foe Lanier County 41-12.

Commerce was overwhelmed by Class AA state contender Calhoun 56-19 Saturday night.
