Lincoln, Warren Top 7-A Standings

October 21, 2007

Lincoln County and Warren County sit atop the Region 7-A standings going into this Friday's big game in Lincolnton.

Both squads of Devils have been perfect in their 4 region games thus far. The only blemish on the Screaming Devils' 2007 schedule has been a 31-21 loss to Class AA Swainsboro on September 14. Those Tigers [click for schedule] are now 6-1 and headed to the playoffs.

The team from Warrenton also owns wins over Class A playoff contender Jefferson, who has defeated Trion and Bremen this season.

So, let there be no doubt. These Screaming Devils are for real, and pose the biggest threat to ending their school's losing streak to Lincoln County in many, many years.

In the first round, Region 7-A will matchup with Region 5-A (1 seed playing 4 seed, 2 seed playing 3 seed, etc.). Region 5 is comprised of the small private schools around Atlanta, with Fellowship Christian currently leading the region.

Should Lincoln and Warren win their two region games remaining after this week, then this Friday will decide the top two seeds in 7-A. While both teams would be home during the first round of the playoffs, the second seed might have to travel to the home of the 8-A champion (usually Commerce or Athens Academy) the second week. Winning this week assures home field through the first two rounds, and the chance of a coin toss the third round.
