Playoffs Round 2: Wilcox, ECI Dominate

November 24, 2007

No one should any longer have any doubts that Wilcox County and ECI are for real.

Wilcox County cruised past Miller County 25-0 and will host our Red Devils this Friday in Rochelle. The Patriots have great "hands players", and will be a very tough road trip for our Devils.

Meanwhile, over in Twin City, ECI's Bulldogs ran all over Dooly County 35-0. ECI's star running back Washaun Ealey set a new single season Georgia record with 48 touchdowns (averaging 4 per game). He surpassed Buford's Darius Walker, who had run for 46 TDs in 15 games in 2003. Hershel Walker in 1979 and Charles Grant in 1997 each had 45. Red Devil fans remember Grant, who failed to scored against our Devil Defense in the "Thriller in Miller". [Click here for game story from Macon.com]

After winning the site coin-toss Saturday morning, ECI will host Warren County, 28-7 winners over Jefferson. QB Tommy Seals led the Screaming Devils with 97 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns, with the Devils jumping out to a 14-0 first quarter lead. [Click here for game story from the Chronicle.]

Both teams won by 14 Friday: AA 21-7 over Whitefield Academy [Click for game story from OnlineAthens.com] and Brookstone 35-21 over Savannah Country Day [Click here for game story from Columbus newspaper].
