Old Rivals Join 2008 Schedule

January 10, 2008

Commerce, Abbeville, and Greene County return to the Lincoln County football schedule for 2008 and 2009.

Our Red Devils won't travel too far from home this fall during the regular season, with the most distant games less than 50 miles away.

Thomson and Lincoln County will scrimmage on August 22. The two teams haven't met in a real varsity football game in over 50 years. The actual season starts a week later when Greene County's Tigers visit Buddy Bufford Field.

Our Devils then make the first of two trips to the Palmetto State, playing September 5 in McCormick. September 12 will see our Devils travel to Hephzibah for the first time in over 30 years.

The second trip to South Carolina on September 19 has our Devils visiting the Abbeville Panthers for the third time ever and the first time in two decades. The non-region schedule closes September 26 when our arch-rival Commerce Tigers visit The Bud.

In October, the 7-A schedule starts with Aquinas in Augusta, with an open date before the W-W game. The new all-time leader in The 378 War will be chosen in Lincolnton October 17 when those Tigers from W-W visit. The regular season closes with home games against Hancock Central and Wilkinson County, and Lincoln County's first visit to the new Warren County stadium on November 7.
