AJC Says Devils 4th Best in Class A

August 20, 2008

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has ranked the Lincoln County Red Devils fourth in Class A to start the 2008 season.

Many see defending state champion ECI as a lock to go all the way, as star Bulldog running back Washaun Ealey is back for his senior season. The only thing that stopped Ealey in 2007 was the referee's whistle after he found the endzone.

Always tough Clinch County is ranked second, with runner-up Wilcox County third. After our Devils, Athens Academy is fifth. Savannah Christian, dropping from AA, is sixth with Bremen seventh, Twiggs County (playing in 2-A) eighth, Brookstone ninth, and Wesleyan 10th.

Lincoln County is the only Augusta area school to make the AJC rankings.
