Barden, Norman, Wynn Shining in College

September 07, 2008

Lincoln County fans know we had some great athletes the past few years. Now, the college world is beginning to see that for themselves.

Last Thursday night, the nation watched on ESPN as Brandon Barden made a diving catch on a 31-yard TD pass to spark the Vanderbilt Commodores to a 24-17 upset of the South Carolina Gamecocks. Brandon, the former Red Devil QB and receiver, has had two catches for 42 yards as a Vandy tight-end. Click here for game story -- Brandon's profile page at Vandy website.

Saturday, Darell Norman caught a 2-yard TD pass that sealed the Georgia Southern Eagles 34-20 win over Austin Peay. Darell had 3 receptions for 13 yards and 8 rushes for 23 yards. Click here for GSU game story. -- Darell's profile at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com

Jarius Wynn is a big part of the Georgia Defense. He's made two tackles and one quarterback hurry so far in this young season. Jarius profile at GeorgiaDogs.com

Also, Faith Hill tells us Alex Bradford has been selected as one of four walk-ons for the Georgia Southern team. This was from a field of over 50 young men who tried out. Hopefully Alex will be on the field soon for the Eagles!
