Devils Head to Augusta to Face Irish

September 30, 2008

Lincoln County's 4-1 Red Devils will travel to Augusta this Friday night to play the Aquinas Irish. Kickoff is slated for 7:30.

The Irish started the year strong, losing 39-29 to now 5-0 Treutlen. Two weeks later Aquinas gave another strong effort before falling to AAAA Westside 35-21. The Irish then defeated GMC 13-6.

Aquinas then traveled to Gibson where the Irish were stunned by the Glascock Panthers 41-20. Glascock, still small in numbers, has a 3-2 record this season and seems headed to a winning year. They have already tied the school record for most wins in a season at 3.

For the Irish, QB Brandon Paul, receiver Drew Hill, and defensive end Cameron Simpkins (6-4, 205) are college prospects. Other returning players include fullback David Mysona, receiver Garrett Pippin (6-5, 200), and linemen Patrick Douglas and Tyler Sneed. Paul passed for 1,125 yards last year and will be more experienced leading the Irish multiple-T offense this season. Mysona was the leading rusher last season when he averaged over 20 yards a carry and also made 67 tackles.
