The Red Devil Junior Varsity whipped the Washington-Wilkes JV 24-8 last Thursday.in Tiger Town.
The Junior Devil Defense stopped the Tigers on their opening drive. Garrett Mohr found Rusty Scott for a 33-yard gain deep in Tiger territory. Darrien then rushed to the 4. Jarvis Jones scored on a tough run up the middle.
After again stopping the Tigers, our young Devils started from their 47. Mohr threw a strike to Tyler Banks for 17 yards with 15 more tacked on for a facemask infraction. A sack and incomplete pass ended the threat, but not for long. Craig Jones intercepted a Tiger pass and returned the pigskin to midfield. Allen Crite broke loose up the middle for 40 yards, then carries again to the 1. Mohr finished the drive with a QB dive.
Caleb James received a Tiger fumble at the W-W 7. Crite scored on a toss, bringing the score to 18-0 at the half. The Tigers threatened in the third, but Banks recovered a fumble near the LC 12. Trey Brown started the Devil drive with a hard 10-yard run, followed by a 37-yard bomb from Mohr to Banks. Two plays later Mohr hit Scott for 32 yards, the touchdown, and a 24-0 Lincoln County lead. Devil reserves played well in the fourth quarter, with Sherrod Jones running the ball well. J. P. Norman ended the game with an interception of a Tiger pass.
The Junior Devils are on the road again this Thursday when they travel to Greenbrier. Kickoff will be at 5:30.
