Barden Scores Winning TD as Vandy Edges Auburn to go 5-0

October 05, 2008

Lincoln County's Brandon Barden caught the winning touchdown pass last night as the Vanderbilt Commodores upset the #13 Auburn Tigers 14-13 in Nashville. The #19 Commodores, 5-0 for the first time since World War II, should improve their poll ranking this week.

The big #87 caught 4 passes for 20 yards, with the longest being 12. He also made several key blocks during the game that was the focus of ESPN's GameDay roadshow.

From Tennessean.com:

[Backup QB Mackenzi] Adams threw a 1-yard pass to tight end Brandon Barden at the back of the end zone. He was well-covered by defenders, but Adams took advantage of the redshirt freshman's 6-5 height for the score.

"He was open quickly, but I wasn't ready to throw it," Adams said. "It was a little of a dangerous throw, but he went up high for it. It helps when guys help you out."
