Lincoln County's Red Devils will renew one of their most frequent rivalries at a new locale this Friday night when they travel to Warrenton to play the Screaming Devils at their new field.
The new gridiron is located behind the new high school on US 278 (Atlanta Highway) between downtown Warrenton and I-20. From Lincolnton, fans should travel their favorite route to reach Warrenton, travel through Warrenton on Main Street, and follow GA 12 as it turns right onto Atlanta Highway. Or, if you prefer the bypass, follow the bypass past the old field and then straight after the traffic signal at the Macon Highway. The new school and field are about a mile northwest of downtown, on the left (west) side of the road. Using the second driveway appears to provide parking closest to the stadium.
A win Friday night will secure outright the 2008 Region 7-A title for our Red Devils. Lincoln County will probably host Social Circle on November 14 in the first round of playoffs.
The Screaming Devils have managed to win three of their last five games in a rebuilding season. They returned only 3 starters on offense and 3 on defense from their outstanding 10-3 team from a year ago. They may be young, but they have outstanding speed, and now they have 9 games of experience. Nothing will make their season be more memorable than an upset of our Red Devils this Friday night.
