Devils Host Redskins in Playoff Opener

November 11, 2008

Social Circle's Redskins will make their eighth straight playoff appearance this Friday night in Lincolnton when they take on our Red Devils, who are in the playoffs for the 35th consecutive year.

Defensive tackler Tytus Baynes (5-11, 270) was an all-state selection last year and is considered a college prospect this season. Running back and safety Jamahl Street, linebacker Desmond Gibbs, defense end Jeffery Meadows (6-1, 260), and guard Nick Carter are also considered standouts for the Walton County school. The Redskins have averaged outscoring their opponents by over 8 points per game.

Social Circle is 5-5, two wins better than 2007. Common opponents with Lincoln County include Washington-Wilkes (LC won 14-6, SC lost 18-7) and Commerce (LC won 35-6, SC lost 21-7).

The Redskins played our Devils 6 times when both teams were in 7-A, from 1996 through 2001. The closest game was the first meeting when LC won 32-24 in a very cold Graveyard. The 1997 meeting marked Coach Larry Campbell's 300th win.
