Wilcox, Clinch Survive; W-W, Warren, Bowdon Exit

The weather created havoc with playoff schedules and during games Friday night, but most favorites pulled out wins by the last whistle.

Wilcox County, ranked #2 in Class A, trailed 5-5 Seminole County 20-12 at the half, but roared back to win 34-20. Wilcox will host Schley County, a 13-12 winner over favored Johnson County when the Trojans failed on a two-point conversion by a few inches. The Wilcox-Schley winner will face the victor of the Lincoln County vs. ELCA matchup.

Eagles Landing Christian Academy earned the trip to Lincolnton by whipping Darlington 17-6. The Chargers, which visited Buddy Bufford Field in 2006, have won 9 of their last 10 games and lost the Region 5-A title by a field goal to Whitefield Academy.

Clinch County had to come from behind to clip the Twiggs County Cobras 44-19 [Game Story] . Clinch will now travel to Twin City to face #1 ECI. The Bulldogs were easy 51-8 winners over Greenville.

Commerce ended its season at 5-6 after falling to Wilkinson County 21-7 [Game Story]. The Warriors will now travel to Mableton to face the Whitefield Academy Wolfpack, 14-12 winners over Gordon Lee.

Washington-Wilkes gave Athens Academy a good battle in the storm near Athens, leading 7-0 before losing 24-14 [Game Story]. The Tigers finish at 6-5. The Spartans will now head west to Bremen, where the Blue Devils whipped Landmark Christian 40-14.

Miller County and Dooly County didn't finish their game until the wee hours of Saturday morning due to a long storm delay. After the weather subsided, the game heated up, with all points scored in the final few minutes. Miller County eeked out a 14-6 win, with the Pirates next hosting Savannah Christian. SCPS defeated Chattahoochee County 18-8 [Game Story] .

Warren County gave Wesleyan a lot more than it wanted for 3 quarters before the Norcross team broke the game open late. After the 42-19 loss, the young Screaming Devils finish at 4-7. Wesleyan will now host Holy Innocents, which upset Bowdon 13-0. The western Red Devils won their first 9, but losses in the region title game to Bremen and in the first playoff game must leave them wondering what happened.

Brookstone whipped Savannah Country Day 28-3 [Game Story] and Turner County punished Terrell County 43-19 to setup a showdown in Columbus.
