Vance Tarver, Lincoln County's outstanding kicker for the past four seasons, has been named one of the nation's best prep kickers as well as to post-season teams.
At the Southern Kicking Classic in LaGrange December 13 and 14, Vance competed against 80 athletes from as far away as Ohio and Louisiana. He won the senior division in both field goals and punting. His winning field goal was 55 yards, and did not miss an attempt during the qualifying rounds.
The Red Devil standout is only the third athlete, out of 800 who have competed in the past 5 years, to win first-place in two events.
Jimmy Rafter, the event's organizer, said "Right now, he is one of the top 10 best kickers in the U. S. as far as recruiting is concerned."

Tarver was named to the Class A All-State first team by the Associated Press and to the Chronicle's All-Area Georgia first team.
WJBF NewsChannel 6's Chris Kane profiled Vance in a story in early December
We believe Vance holds the national record for free kick field goals attempted and made with his success on three tries. If you're not familiar with a free kick field goal, here's video from the first kick (after which we all learned about it!).
