Strong Abbeville Invades BBF

September 17, 2009

Abbeville's Panthers will make their first visit to Lincolnton since 1986 this Friday night. Kickoff is set for 7:30 in what the GHSFDaily calls one of the outstanding games of this week.

Abbeville is the hometown of Red Devil coach Larry Campbell, which makes this game a tad big more interesting. Last year's game, when our Devils led 17-14 in the 4th quarter but lost 28-17, shows the intensity of this new found rivalry between two schools that are always highly ranked in their classifications.

Abbeville is ranked #6 in the Palmetto State Class AA poll after losing a squeaker to Woodruff, 36-35 last week. Two weeks ago they whipped Hart County (Georgia) 40-13. That same Hart County team beat Thomson 24-6 last Friday. This will be a very, very tough game for our Devils.

The Panthers always bring a big crowd, and with such a short drive, they are expected to fill Buddy Bufford Field early. Red Devil fans are asked to come early to support our 2009 team.

Lincoln County leads the series 6-1.
