Devils Head to Commerce to Renew Rivalry

September 23, 2009

Lincoln County's Red Devils will attempt to get back on the winning trail this Friday night when they venture into Tiger Stadium in Commerce. Kickoff is at 8:00, as is the rule there.

The Tigers are 1-2 so far in 2009, but all games were against bigger opponents. They whipped AA Morgan County 34-14 in Commerce, but lost on the road to AA Jefferson 30-13 and AAA Franklin County 21-14. They had trailed Franklin 21-0 at one point before almost coming back to win. They finished 2008 with a 5-6 record, their first losing season since 1992's 3-7 campaign.

Cody Streetman returns at QB with the Tigers running more. Also back among 7 offense starters are backs Deon Brock and Jon Cash, who last year combined for 14 touchdowns and nearly 1,500 yards. Travaris Glasper leads the defense at linebacker. Brock rushed 15 times for 188 yards and 3 TDs, and caught a TD pass, in their Morgan County game.

Parking on the Commerce campus will be different since our last visit due to the construction of the new high school building where the tennis courts and some parking were in the past. We recommend arriving early. There is usually some parking available at the back gate (entrance is further down Lakeview Drive). [Directions]
