Lincoln County will make its first appearance in the new Hancock Central stadium this Friday. Kickoff will be at 7:30.
Those that attended a game in recent years at the downtown field are sure to appreciate the new Bulldog facility. The stadium is located behind the High School on GA 15, about 1.5 miles north of downtown Sparta. GA 15 is also known locally as the Greensboro Highway. The stadium is about 19 miles south of I-20 exit 148 (GA 22, which joins GA 15 a half-mile north of the field).
Hancock Central is 1-6 this season. The sole win came over Glascock County two weeks ago, which ended an 18-game losing streak. The Bulldogs lost to Washington-Wilkes 28-6 to start October, but played Warren County a much tougher game last week before losing 32-22.
Hancock was expecting a better season than it has had, with 9 starters returning on offense and 9 on defense. The Dogs' best player is offensive lineman Justin Brookins. Other players to watch include receivers Brian Hill and Tommie Willis, receiver/QB Marcus Walker, and linebacker Lemarcus Lewis.
