Region 7-A champion Lincoln County will play host to Trion next Friday in the first round of the Class A playoffs. The Bulldogs pulled a major upset Friday night with a 21-7 win over 8-A champ Darlington.
In the second round, the winner of next week's LC-Trion game will face the winner of Athens Academy vs. Eagles Landing Christian Academy. Making up the other half of the quarter of the bracket that our Devils are in are Clinch County vs. Marion County and ECI vs. Hawkinsville.
In other first round games of interest, Wilkinson County will host Bremen, Washington-Wilkes travels to Bowdon, and Warren County visits Darlington School in Rome. Washington-Wilkes was a surprising 28-12 loser to Aquinas Friday night, the first by the Tigers to the Irish since 1980.
Wesleyan will host Landmark Christian, Wilcox County will be in Rochelle as Treutlen visits, and Randolph-Clay visits Greenville. Irwin County travels to Savannah Christian, and Brookstone visits Miller County. Savannah Country Day visits Twiggs County.
Thomson finished at 2-8 and failed to make the postseason for the first time since 1998 and for the first time with Luther Welsh as coach.
