The Washington-Wilkes Tigers will visit Lincolnton this Friday night for another installment of The 378 War.
Red Devil fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 7:00 for a special presentation for the 50th anniversary of the first Red Devil state championship in 1960. Members of that team are to meet at 6:45.
The visiting Tigers also won their first state title in 1960, in Class B. The two schools opened their season in Lincolnton with the Red Devils winning 25-19, the first Lincolnton win in a decade. This encouraged the Class C champs from Lincolnton to claim the Class B title as well.
The 2010 Tigers have struggled to a 2-4 record, but all LCHS fans know very well that a hurt Tiger can be very dangerous. Red Devil faithful need only think back four years, when the only blemish on the Devils' last state title season was a 3-0 loss to the Tigers in Lincolnton.
Our Devils have had two weeks to prepare for this annual rivalry game, and we're sure the coaches have reminded them of the importance of this region matchup. Lincoln County needs a win to continue its efforts toward another region title.
The Tigers would like nothing more than to surprise our #6 ranked crew. Red Devil fans are needed to help spur Lincoln County on to another win on this special night.
