10/22 Recap: Warren County defeats W-W, Savannah Christian Loses

October 24, 2010

Warren County defeated Washington-Wilkes 25-14 to push the Tigers to the brink of not making the playoffs this season. Statewide, Calvary Day shocked Savannah Christian 6-0 in a key 3-A East matchup.

With the loss to Warren County, the W-W Tigers must defeat Aquinas next Friday and Twiggs County the following week to make the playoffs. W-W last failed to make the playoffs at the end of their 5-5 1997 season.

Wilkinson County beat Hancock Central 31-12, with the Warriors playing their younger players in the second half. Wilkinson and Warren meet this Friday.

Region 3-A East now has a 3-way tie for its top 3 spots. The top 4 teams in 3-A East will play the top 4 teams in 3-A West (#1 vs #4, #2 vs #3) in two weeks to decide the four teams that go to the State playoffs. Region 5 has the same setup, so Wesleyan and Eagles Landing Christian Academy could both go into the playoffs undefeated.

Marion County continued its best season ever, now at 8-0, with a 7-6 win over Greenville in 4-A.

The other top teams continued to roll.
