Lincoln County will head southwest on its longest road trip of the regular season this Friday when the Red Devils play Twiggs County in Jeffersonville.
Most expected Twiggs County to contend for the Region 7-A crown in 2010 after the Cobras went 11-2 last year. They won 11 in a row before calling to Darlington in the quarterfinals.
But during the off-season Dexter Copeland left Twiggs after nine seasons to take over the program at Baldwin High. Copeland has led the Braves to an 8-0 record in 2-AAA.
Dexter Dawson took over the Twiggs football program and faced tough early season tests against Wesleyan, Butler, and Glades Day of Florida. The latter game was played in Daytona Beach, and the Cobras played a tough game before losing 24-12.
The Cobras are now 2-6, and will miss the playoffs for only the second time in nine years.
The stadium is located behind the high school at 375 Watson Road. Park in the parking area on the left, and enter the stadium to the left side of the school.
Directions from Lincolnton: go to Milledgeville and follow 441 south to take GA 96 west to Jeffersonville. Heading southwest from Jeffersonville on GA 96, watch for Watson Road on the right. It's easy to miss the turn. The school will be on the left.
