GHSA Decides on 6 Classes

May 11, 2011

Yesterday the GHSA Executive Committee voted 26-24 to approve expanding the current 5-class system to 6 classes starting with the 2012-2013 school year.

The called Executive Committee meeting was contentious according to multiple media reports:

Chronicle: GHSA to divide schools into 6 classifications
Macon.com: GHSA to add sixth classification
AJC: GHSA votes to expand
AJC: Possible new alignments, based on current numbers

Lincoln County is expected to remain in Region 7-A with current opponents Aquinas, Warren County, and others. Washington-Wilkes would move back to Class AA since the breakpoint between A and AA would be dropped a few students.
