Short-handed Devils Host Harlem Friday To Open Season

August 16, 2011

Lincoln County will host the Harlem Bulldogs this Friday in the season opener for both schools. Kickoff at Buddy Bufford Field is slated for 7:30.

The Red Devils were impressive in last Friday's preseason scrimmage against the Class AAA Thomson Bulldogs. The inexperienced Devil Defense kept the speedy Bulldogs out of the endzone until the final minute of the scrimmage.

The Devils booted a field goal in the first half after a long pass to Mason Saggus at the 2. The Jones boys, Craig and Sherrod, both ran the ball well. Denzel Gunby and Price Rogers performed well sharing the quarterback duties.

Harlem, like our Devils, are also having problems with numbers and inexperienced players. Aquinas rolled over Harlem in their preseason event last week.
