GHSA Approves 6-class System Again

August 30, 2011

Yesterday the Georgia High School Association Executive Committee approved changing to a 6-class system starting with the 2012-2013 school year. The revised plan allows some flexibility on how many schools are in each class.

Class A may undergo another change, as discussion continues on a plan that would split the smallest schools into two divisions, grouped by urban or rural areas. This proposal will be discussed by the Reclassification Committee on Sept. 13. If it gains their approval, the full Executive Committee will consider the change in October.
