OFFICIAL - Devils #1, Will Host Hancock Central Friday, Nov. 23

November 10, 2012

The official and final Class A Public power ratings and playoff bracket were released by the GHSA. Lincoln County will host Hancock Central in the first round next week.

The game will be played Friday, the night after Thanksgiving. Kickoff is early, at 6:30.

The Red Devils are the #1 seed for the playoff bracket (14.73 power points), with tough Wilcox County #2 (14.46). If they win, those two teams will be home for the first three rounds, with the final fourth round in the Georgia Dome. The GHSA will not announce the Dome schedule until after the semi-finals are completed.

Wilkinson County is seeded #9 and must travel to Colquitt. If they beat Miller County and our Devils defeat Hancock Central, the Warriors will get a return visit to Lincolnton on November 30.

The Devils' 14.73 power points were the highest among all Class A teams. Among the private schools, the leaders were Athens Academy with 14.69 and Eagles Landing Christian Academy (ELCA) with 14.28. Defending champ Savannah Christian finished at 13.05 (#6 among privates).

Perennial Class A contenders that didn't make the 2012 playoffs include Johnson County (#17), Clinch County (#20) and Hawkinsville (#22).

Our Red Devils may have next Friday off, but there will be plenty of Red Devils playing in the area. The Western Red Devils from Bowdon will visit Washington-Wilkes (9-1) in the first round of the Class AA playoffs. The winner of that game will play the winner of Wesleyan at Calhoun. The Jackson Red Devils will visit undefeated Thomson, the #1 team in AAA.
