Devils Top-Ranked Class A Public School

After its open date and other games last weekend, Lincoln County is now the top-ranked Class A public school.

Dooly County was upset by Class AA Macon County and fell out of the Georgia Sportswriters poll. This poll replaced the AP poll starting with this season.

Private schools Eagles Landing Christian and Prince Avenue Christian are the top ranked teams in Class A. Our Devils are #3 in the overall poll, followed by George Walton Academy, Wilcox County, and Landmark Christian. ECI is seventh overall, followed by Irwin County, Savannah Christian, and Athens Academy.

Wilkinson County fell out of the poll after a 41-32 loss to Wilcox County. The Warriors lost three fumbles to Wilcox.

In games with other 7-A teams, Glascock County beat Warren County for the first time, 28-7. The Screaming Devils are coached by Red Devil alumnus and Georgia Southern standout Cherard Freeman.

Hancock Central beat the Red Devils of Randolph-Clay 30-14, and Twiggs County lost to Northeast Macon 40-19. GMC lost to Harlem 28-7.

First Presbyterian Day lost to George Walton Academy 36-10,and Aquinas whipped East Laurens 52-14. Aquinas hosts GWA this week.
