September 25, 2013

Lincoln County's Red Devils fell from #3 to #10 in the last AJC/GHSF Daily Class A poll. The Devils hope to rebound this Friday when they host First Presbyterian Day from Macon.

Top ranked ELCA and Landmark Christian had open dates last Friday. Aquinas led Josey 42-0 at the half and won 49-0 as the Irish moved to #3.

Savannah Christian, George Walton Academy, and Prince Avenue Christian each moved up one spot. The Savannah Area All-stars beat Montgomery County 23-7. GWA whipped Warren County 39-14. PAC pounded Glascock County 55-6.

After private schools in the top 6 positions, the public schools filled in the next four spots. Seminole County is now 4-0 after a 42-14 win over Pelham. Eighth-ranked Irwin County controlled Wilkinson County 41-14, with a 34-0 third quarter lead initiating GHSA's mercy rules.

Johnson County beat Savannah Country Day 26-6 for the Trojans' fourth win of the year and entry into the rankings at #9.

First Presbyterian lost its first two games of the year before making a come-from-behind win last week. The Vikings lost to George Walton Academy 36-10 and Pike County 30-0. Last week undefeated Pace Academy looked headed to another win before the Vikings righted their ship and won 28-18.

In their first meeting with the Macon private school last year, the Devils came from 14 points down to win 49-27. The pigskin gets booted at 7:30!
