1963 State Champions To Reunite Friday

October 08, 2013

The 1963 Red Devils, Undefeated Champions of Class C, will reunite at 7:00 this Friday night on Buddy Bufford Field.

The 1963 team was probably the most dominating team in Red Devils history, allowing only 13 points in 12 games. And one of those touchdowns is still argued about today.

In four years ending with 1963, the Devils went 46-2-0, won 3 state titles and lost in the championship game the other year. The Devils ended 1963 with 24 straight wins and two consecutive state titles.

And for icing on the cake, Washington-Wilkes won the Class B title, but lost to our Devils in the first game of the season.
