Abbeville visits Lincolnton this Friday night. The Panthers, the defending SC Class AA champs, are very strong again this year despite some graduation losses. They have outscored three opponents 88-7.
From the Greenwood Index-Journal:
The Abbeville train isn't slowing down
The Panthers are undefeated three weeks into the season and have yet to allow an offensive touchdown. They are coming off a 34-0 shutout of 3A Emerald and a 28-0 shutout of Woodruff the week before that -- the only points scored on Abbeville came via a pick-six in the 26-7 season opening win versus Ninety Six.
Sophomore running back Cortney Jackson rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries in the win against Emerald. Despite his success, the Panthers didn't display a one-dimensional offense, as quarterback Jamie Gray completed five of nine passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. Several times, Abbeville made it look like it was setting up a run before popping the ball out to an open downfield receiver.
That variety on offense will help Abbeville as it heads into a tougher matchup, facing a 2-0 Lincoln County on Sept. 9.
