In The Augusta Chronicle's preview of the 2003 Devils, Coach Larry Campbell is maintaining his philosophy: Win enough
games to make the playoffs, and see what happens from there.
And that methodology came oh-so-close to winning a state title last year, as our Devils game eventual state champ Clinch
County their toughest battle of the playoffs.
Devil players are ready:
"Last year, we wanted it," [Octavius] Andrews said. "But we didn't want it as much as we do this year. This year we're in better shape."
Said [Cordarryl] Coppin: "Mentally, last year made us think we can play with anybody. We just keep going hard every day. We just keep going hard."
"Last year, every game we got better. That's always been the story of Lincoln County. When the leaves start turning, we start playing." - Mark Saggus, senior offensive lineman
