After spotting the GMC Bulldogs 14 points after turnovers, the Lincoln County Red Devils stormed back to tie the game in the fourth quarter, and then score twice in overtime to secure a 2001 playoff berth.
Cedric Leverett led the Devil offense with 199 total yards, including several good runs.
The game was the 400th as head coach for Larry Campbell. He is the first coach to reach that level in only 30 seasons. The game was also the 200th region game under Campbell. Coach Campbell (341-56-3) now needs 5 wins to tie Lincolnton native Dan Pitts for most wins in Georgia history with 346.
GMC has not defeated the Red Devils since their first meeting way back in 1935.
