Greenbrier Makes First Varsity Visit to Lincolnton

August 07, 2004

t may look a bit like the Green Bay Packers are visiting Buddy Bufford Field this Friday night when Greenbrier's Wolfpack comes to Lincolnton for the first time ever.

Sporting the Packer's green and gold colors and "G" helmets, the Class AAAAA team will be looking for its first victory in 2004. Greenbrier lost to Westside 27-10 and Morgan County 26-17. That's the same Morgan County that beat Commerce 41-27 last week.

Greenbrier ended 2003 with a 7-4 mark, losing in the first round of the playoffs. Lincoln County residents pass very close to the school whenever they go down Augusta Highway --> Washington Road to Augusta. The school, near the Windmill Plantation development, was opened in 1996.

The Wolfpack features college prospects Eugene Rogers (6-0, 160-pound wide receiver) and Tanner Hayden (6-4, 270-pound tackle). Rogers is a two-way Division I prospect with blazing speed. A total of 15 starters return, but Greenbrier must replace 2003 QB Brooks Robinson who signed with Western Carolina.

Devil Head Coach Larry Campbell will be on the sidelines this Friday. We understand his recent heart catheterization procedure went very well, with no further actions needed at this time.
