Washington-Wilkes will play Bowdon on Saturday, and Johnson County awaits Lincoln County on Friday, as the Class A Semi-Finals are set.
Washington-Wilkes came from 3 down with about 2:25 left in the game to take a 14-10 lead over Savannah Country Day. The Tigers quickly added two more touchdowns: one on a breakaway run and the last on an interception return, for a 27-10 final and their first Dome visit in 5 years. The 11-2 Tigers will play 12-1 Bowdon Saturday at 3. Click here for the story from The Augusta Chronicle.
By all reports Bowdon and Hawkinsville had an epic battle in Bowdon, with the western Red Devils winning 10-7 to prevent the two-time defending state champs from continuing their efforts to repeat. Hawkinsville finishes the season 9-4. HHS lost to Johnson County 20-14 in September in a game that essentially decided the 4-A title. Click here for the story from The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
In its closest win of the year, Johnson County held on to edge Bremen 17-14. Johnson has won 12 straight games after a season-opening loss to Class AA powerhouse Dublin. Click here for the story from The Macon Telegraph.
Also of note is Greene County's 27-6 whipping of Cook County. It was Cook that shocked GHSA football with its 20-14 win over Dublin last week. Greene, which started the season with a 25-point win over our Red Devils, will put their 13-0 record on the line next Friday morning when they play long-time stalwart Charlton County, which upset Buford 26-21 Friday night.
