W-W Loses, Shutouts Rule Class A

Thomson gave Coach Luther Welsh his 300th career win with a 40-16 spanking of the W-W Tigers. In Class A, 4 stalwarts are shutout by larger schools.

Washington-Wilkes took an early lead, but the home-standing Tigers were unable to hold back the Bulldogs. Washington-Wilkes, now 1-1, travels to Lincolnton next Friday night.

When was the last time Hawkinsville, Clinch County, Twiggs County, and Miller County were all shutout on the same night? It happened Friday night, when each Class A team took on a larger opponent: Dodge County 14-0 over Hawkinsville, Coffee County 35-0 over Clinch, Dublin 40-0 over Twiggs, and Early County 41-0 over Miller.

Commerce edged Franklin County 14-7, and Johnson County outlasted Claxton 55-39 in a scoreboard-burner.
