Class A Top 10 Shutouts Continue

September 16, 2006

Last week it was Hawkinsville, Clinch, and Twiggs. This week, Johnson County and our Red Devils join the list of Class A Top 10 teams to be shutout early in 2006.

Johnson County, ranked as high as #2 in some polls, was shocked by ECI 41-0 last night in a big game between non-region foes in Class A. Johnson is in Region 2 (with Hawkinsville), while ECI is in Region 3.

Bowdon, likely to be #1 in Class A in the next polls, beat Central of Carrollton 27-14. Commerce whipped Banks County 28-0, and Clinch County won its first game of the year, 47-0 over Pelham. Hawkinsville squeaked by Bleckley County 20-19.

In games involving 7-A schools, Athens Academy whipped Monticello 28-0, and Hancock Central upended Putnam County 35-27. Aquinas lost to Harlem 21-8. Swainsboro defeated Warren County 21-14.
