Junior Devils Beat Thomson, Play at Harlem Thursday

September 17, 2006

Lincoln County's Junior Varsity traveled to Thomson last Thursday and returned home with a hard fought 7-0 win.

The JV defense coached by Shawn Davis did an outstanding job of keeping the Bulldogs out of the endzone all day to preserve the win.

The offense scored early in the first quarter on a sweep play by Dechane Willis. After the PAT by Vance Tarver, the Junior Devils led 7-0.

The LC JV defense forced Thomson to punt several times throughout the game. The defense also stood their ground several times near the goalline to keep the Thomson offense from scoring.

Devil QB Bo Reed completed several passes to wide receivers Josh Hollimon and Jatoyus Jones and fullback Jarren Brown. The Lincoln running game looked solid with good runs by Alex Ellis, Jarren Brown, Dechane Willis, A.G. Middlebrooks, Tavious McGahee, Jamereon Green, and Josh Sims.

Coach Davis praised his defense: "I am proud of the effort by our defense today. They really turned it up a notch."

JV Head Coach Kevin Blizzard comment, "Our defense and punt team saved us today. Our offense got tired and played sloppy in the second half. Offensive penalties kept 2 rushing TD's from counting, which kept the game close. Our overall effort was good though."

Alex Ellis returned a punt for a touchdown but the big play was called back due to a "plethora of penalities", according to our on-site reporter.

The Junior Devils travel to Harlem this Thursday at take on their Bullpuppies at 5:30. Go see the Red Devils of tomorrow!
