The last football of September 2006 sees the first full Friday of Region 7-A contest.
In addition to our Red Devils visiting Aquinas, Monticello travels to Sparta to play Hancock Central in a game should help determine a playoff spot later in the season. The Region 7-A game of the week is probably in Jeffersonville when Warren County visits Twiggs County. Both teams have had tough early-season games, but should be at their best Friday night since this game will go along way toward deciding playoff seedings. GMC hosts Wilkinson County in the other 7-A game.
Wrightsville will have a big crowd Friday night when Hawkinsville visits Johnson County. Both teams were ranked in the Top 4 earlier in the season. Johnson is trying to come back from two tough losses in that Region 2-A cross-over game.
Commerce, working its way up the Class A rankings, has a difficult task when the Tigers travel to Calhoun to play the Yellow Jackets. Calhoun, the 2005 Class AA runner-ups, are coached by Hal Lamb, son of retired Commerce (and Warrenton) coach Ray Lamb. Calhoun is 29-3 since the beginning of 2004.
Top-ranked Bowdon may have a tough game when the Western Red Devils head to Franklin to play the Class AA Heard County Braves. Both teams are undefeated so far in 2006.
