Lincoln County will host the Hancock Central Bulldogs this Friday night for the Red Devils' Homecoming and Senior Recognition festivities.
The team from Sparta, at 3-1-1, is off to its best start in at least 6 years. The Bulldogs have defeated Putnam County, Monticello, and Twiggs County, with a tie with Class AAAA Rockdale County. HC surprised Twiggs 35-29 last week to move to the top of the Region 7-A standings. Hancock's last winning season was 1984 (6-5).
Brandon Nolley is Hancock's stellar senior quarterback. Against Monticello, he totalled 572 all-around yards. That includes rushing for a touchdown, passing for a TD, and scoring on a kickoff return. He ran for over 100, passed for another 200, returned 3 punts for nearly 100 yards, and returned kickoffs for 180 yards. Nolley's being considered for scholarships by Louisville and Kentucky. In the AJC, HC athletics director Marcus Morris is quoted, "I tell you what, this cat is something special. ... When he gets on the field, everybody is like 'There's No. 9'."
