Lincoln County will be trying to capture the 300th regular season victory during The Campbell Years Friday night in Milledgeville when GMC hosts our Devils.
Georgia Military is on the rebound. The Bulldogs got off to a 2-2 start after two 1-9 seasons. The 7-A schedule has been tough with five straight losses, but GMC lost by only 7 to Monticello last week and by 1 to Aquinas a week earlier.
Running back Matt McGhee returns after rushing for 1,150 yards a year ago. Senior QB Brett Scott (28 for 70 for 780 yards) also returns. Offensive lineman Issac Butts is huge at 6'8" and 305 pounds.
A win over GMC would be the 300th regular season win in Larry Campbell's 35-year career at LCHS. His record would be 300-47-3, for an amazing winning percentage of better than 86%. This includes 14 perfect regular seasons (that's 40%!).
The 300 regular season wins is not a state record, as Lincolnton native Dan Pitts had 303 in his 39-year coaching career enroute to his 346-109-4 overall total. Coach Pitts had 5 perfect regular seasons at Mary Persons High in Forsyth.
